When do mothers need to purchase maternity insurance?

It is compulsory that mothers have already got health insurance policies when intending to have a baby.

Who is supported by a maternity insurance policy?

The maternity insurance covers subjects including female workers, male workers and even those who have contraception. For the female workers, the nearer their birth delivery days are, the longer maternity leave they are allowed to take. On the other hand, the male workers have every right to take days off on the purpose of taking care of their wives and children.

How long does a maternity last for each subject?

  1. Female workers
  • Child delivery: In this case, a female worker can take a maternity leave of six months and still receive 100 percent of her average salary according to articles 34 and 35 of the Law of Social Insurance, however she cannot take more than 60 days off before her birth giving. In addition, if the mother carries twins or triplets, she can take one more month for each child.
  • Adoption: In the event of adopting a child, the mother has the right to take maternity leave until the child is six – month old
  • Stillbirth: A female worker can take the maternity of 4 months if her stillborn child is under two – month old. In case the baby is older, she can take 2 months off.
  • Fatality during or after birth – giving: In this situation, the father or the supervisor will receive support directly from the maternity insurance policies purchased.
  • Contraception: a female worker can take 7 days off if she has got an IUD and 15 days off should she get sterilization.
  1. Male workers
  • Average birth delivery: A male worker is allowed to take 5 days off to take care of his wife and newborn child.
  • Birth delivery involving surgery: In this case, a male worker can take a two – week period off.
  • Twin and triplets or more infants: the father can take 3 more days for each child.
